It’s a Geometric World, 1st grade project (Day 21) by Ms. Trowbridge’s First Graders

During math today, “we made some new shapes out of other 2-D shapes.” (Jay) For an example, we used rectangles and squares to make a bigger or a different shape.” (Pedro) We started new math centers for this week. “In my center we had to sort 2-D and 3-D shapes in to the right place.” (Jadine) “We looked at 3-D shapes and figured out if we could roll them, slide them or stack them.” (Ximena) “My center was called, I Can Color Solids. I had to color cubes, spheres, pyramids, rectangular prisms, and cylinders.” (Giovanny)

This week we will be writing descriptive paragraphs to go along with our shape monsters. Today we started by completing a graphic organizer that “described my monster.” (Mozes)

Then, we got to “sort snacks that were 3-D shapes.” (Christopher) “We used pretzels, snickers, kit kat, coco puffs and we decided what kind of shape they were.” (Christian)

“We continued to wrap our shape monsters and tomorrow we’re going to start to decorate them.” (Pedro)
